The basis of many kitchens is often still good. But sometimes you are no longer happy with the look and feel. This is often dated after so many years. It is then a good idea to only replace the fronts to give your (old) kitchen an upgrade. Roel started working on this project. He opted for Birch Multiplex fronts; He ordered this online and received it cut to size. The result is a beautiful Scandinavian look.

Description by Roel

Giving our dated kitchen a fresh new look. We replaced the old doors and fronts with custom-sawn birch 18 mm plywood planks.

How I made this project

We measured the old cabinets perfectly and made a working drawing to describe all sizes. We ordered some panels a little larger so that the space between the panels would be smaller (make sure it fits). All panels were numbered and indicated when ordering so that the planks could not be mixed up. I started with 3 doors to see if it would turn out nice. Later I ordered the rest of the shelves. When the wood came in I sanded it lightly. I then treated it in stages with skylt lacquer. I applied 3 coats of lacquer to the front and 1 coat of lacquer to the sides and backs. After painting and curing. I drilled the different holes for the hinges per door / drawer. Hinges installed, and the panels mounted one by one in the kitchen and then adjusted.

Dimensions of my DIY project

The kitchen doors are 18mm thick. Many different length and height sizes
