In this DIY project, Sebastian shows how he made several beautiful wall shelves from individually sawn white birch plywood. Read more about his experiences below.

Description from Sebastian

I built the shelves and cabinets shown from white coated birch multiplex in 15mm and 18mm thickness. For the bedside table, I had a sheet of steel bent in a metalworking company.

How I made this project

The design and sketches were made in SketchUp. The boards were delivered in size. The edges were processed using an edge router and a (homemade) router table with this. The book and plant shelves have a concealed suspension (lens head fitting). I was able to mill the recess for the suspension in the middle of the back of the vertical boards using an attachment for the edge router. The cabinets and shelves are held together with wooden dowels (dowel aid) and wood glue. The shelf in the wall cupboard is simply placed on shelf brackets. The wall cupboard hangs on a wedge strip. The sheet steel for the bedside table is still painted. The bedside table runs in grooves (sprayed with silicone spray) along the sheet steel. Other tools included cordless screwdrivers with bits and wood drills, milling attachments of course, lots of clamps and vises, and my vice.
